cb radio or marine

do any of you use cb radios on inland lakes or marine vhf? if so is there a boater channel. since I'm a trucker and I seem to collect these things and was thinking about one in the boat, but if there isn't anyone to talk with...?

A CB radio wont do you any good on the water, The range is limited and usually no one listening on the other end that could render assistance.

I get about 6 miles range on the cb in my boat with a whip ant. but the only people you're going to talk to is fellow truck drivers. As a trucker I've got one just for the fun of. I carry cell phone and a marine radio if I take the boat out on the river.

we used them back in the 70's some--those giant handhelds with the 8' antenna and 40 aa batteries? I think Coast Guard monitored them some; not sure. But as others point out, you'll be right lonely now; Alexander Graham Bell never got wrong numbers or prank calls.
