I recently traded for an '86 model 185 cajun fish and ski with an '86 150 vro. I have disconnected the vro and gone to mixing my own. However, when I took it to the lake for the first time, and this is not my first boat, I experienced a blowout problem at aproximately 42-4500 rpm, depending on trim adjustment. I checked the cav. plate height to bottom of transom and it seemed a slight bit high, maybe 3/8 of and inch. The one thing I noticed was my hull has a 4" drop about a foot from the transom(areators and drain plug). Where should my cav. plate be set in reference to these points? Slightly below the transom? Or in between the transom and the hull bottom points?
