I am very new to I/O's and even newer to volvo, looking at my outdrive closer i noticed the cavitation plate is about 1 1/2" above the lowest part of the hull. It does have a good deep v 20 degree's but is this way volvo does thing's? My mercruiser is on the other side it's about 1" under the v. I am experiencing cav @ wot but i thought it was just due a undersized alumiun prop (19 p on a 19' 225hp v6) It's all new to me,so i would like to ask?

Mine is about the same height on my outdrive.I run a 21 pitch SS, the only time i have that problem is if i trim out way too much..(same size boat and engine you have).

The SX drives nominal dimension is 3/4" above the transom, you are double that. I could see a manufacturer putting it lower than the 3/4" but not higher.
Another contributing factor would be any type of thru-hull fittings in the hull in direct line with the prop.

You also need to do that measurment when the drives cavitation plate is parallell with the bottom (not all the way down or trimmed all the way up)

Ok, edit your BIG picture out so this thread will fit the screen. I don't scroll sideways to read something.
Look at the picture below. It's yours. Now, trim the drive so the yellow line and the blue line are parallel. Then use your square to measure the distance.

It does have negative trim(in to far) which will make it appear to be that high on the transom. You need to measure with the cav plate level to the bottom of the hull..
