The Connecticut River 5 minutes from here is loaded with them. I use to canoe with 3 dozen shiners and a bobber and fish in the part where the rapids end and dump in to deeper areas it has rocky bottom. Shiners made it less than 30 seconds, they murdered them quick........Give me a smallmouth anyday.........
My best fishing trip ever was when two of my college buddies took me small mouth fishing on the black river near Johnson Shutins. In Missouri They said bring your ultra lite. I had no idea what i was doing, but still caught nine or ten smallies. It was so much fun. That is one trip I will never forget. As a matter of fact I think that is the trip that got me hooked on fishing.
