Re: Cats and Boating
good memory ez...
yep, i've had my cat out a few times, though not this year. i'm not conviced she likes it real well...
that pic she was discovering that there was no where to run...
she does calm down in the end though. takes about an hour . i transport her in a pet carrier from the van to the boat. then once on board the cat carrier door is open for her to come and go as she pleases.
after a while she calms down and goes about being a cat..
funny though. the ramifications of taking her out is.
-the cat carrier has become a refuge for her. a safe haven. she even goes into it when it's just sitting in my shed now. just walks on in and lays down for a cat nap
-when she hears the cooler come out, and the ice going into the cooler. she vanishes. she knows that she may be going boating today. ya gotta go find her to get her to go.
when on the water, she really is good though. after she gets over the initial trauma of it... having a fully enclosed boat is a plus. i know she can't get away when i'm full enclosed. though one time out i did loose her (wasn't fully enclosed that day).. was talking to a buddy of mine in another boat. distracted for a few minutes. looked to find her and she was gone... it's like, man, that just can't be. i didn't hear a splash or anything. but she's gone. as i was starting to panic. i found her leash up in the enclosed bow area... followed the leash and there she was. my boat is a little strange in that the center windshield panel slides vertically into a pocket that is below the deck, inside the enclosed bow area. the end of the leash led to the top of that pocket. i've never seen the top of the pocket that my center panal disappears into. but my cat has. she was on top of it. there must be space enough for her to get in between the deck and the pocket..
amazing the places cats can find to hide...
