Catfishing in the winter

Hey folks,<br />I'm thinking of going catfishing on a small lake here in Northern California some time soon. I know I've caught some in the fall when it's cool, but do you think they'll bite now in the winter? Night-time temps are probably 35 to 45.

they bite in kansas in the winter.caught 3 channel last year at 40 water temp. go for it.what are the water temps?

Thanks for the reply Racer, not sure of the water temps, but I don't think the lake is fed from snowmelt, if thats what you're getting at. When you caught yours did they fight or did the colder temps make them slugish?

they were a little sluggish but still did fight.im just talking about suface temp.not from snow melt good luck

Well, the BIL is here, he was gonna spend a day, now it's a whole week. :mad: So forget the fishing till next week.

Feb. is my favorite catfish mo. also near our coldest mo. :) go for it. nothing to loose but quality time spent doing quality things.
