Wanted to take 14 ft hobbie cat out through the heads of Sydney habour. Bad weather for weeks. Walking out on the head around Botany Bay saw a beautiful catamaran crippled. Main mast and sail down and lying in the water. A tug coming out to assist. Friend is he- hawing about the captain and how could he get into such a mess. Nice sunny windy day comes up, out we go in the hobbie. Big thrill. Come back in sailing around Manly, struck a bit of chop. The mast just touched my leg as it catapolted sideways into the water. What a thrill, hundreds of boats in the harbour that day, one very kindly towed us back. I had a ball, my friend never mentions it and I'll never be able to discribe the look of shame on his face. Sorry guys but I'm a girl. It was my wish to go out through the heads and the tow was a real +.

Re: Catastrophic

I don't know about the big crippled cat but ours was barely out of the water, fixed and back in. Some of the best days I ever had. Thank you America, great boat, never flipped it once, but sailed it around the Whitsundays.Moved too far from the coast now so had to go to a motor. Oh for the quiet fun days.Go fishing now and pull biscuit around the river. :)
