Anyone else have the problem of your cat putting a fresh kill on your deck every once in a while? Last night he got the largest mouse I have ever seen. On the bright side he caught a snake that slithered it's way into my house. He never eats them, he is only a sportsman

Maybe he wants you to clean it and grill it for him. Maybe a little basil with it. He's probably sitting there thinking "I;m gonna quit hunting if he don't start cooking":D:D

We had a few cats on the farm. One old female would line her kill all the way from the porch down the side walk. As much as she would get in a day is how far they would stretch. And always in a line. She was very proud and we alway just figured she wanted us to know she was earning her keep.

Very much so. The 2nd winter in our house, we had gotten the cat that spring, I came home from a foot of snow, with the cat as usual sitting at the door greeting us, and saw something on the mat, thought it was a leaf, then realized, there are no leaves right now, looked again sure enough there was the cat proud as could be sitting next to it. I probably would have never known there was a mouse in my house. Since he's indoors he doesn't get much else chance other than to kill the occasional creepy crawly, which is fine by me.

yep, that's likely the facts right there....

when i was a kid we'd go up to the cabin in MN. we were right on the edge of 40 acres of forest... my cat tigger would always leave us something at the back door. mostly chipmunks and shrews and mice. all headless... guess he thought that was the tasty part. i'll never know...
my last cat, ziggy, never brought home his prey. he ate it. all of it. birds, squirls, rabbits were his favorite...
the cat's i have now are just plain worthless. my black one can catch stuff but he brings it home alive and wants to take his catch inside... my other cat sazzyazz couldn't catch a butterfly if she tried. which she does, but always fails... poor cat.....:(

Two cats, both "MANX",
catch the mouse, remove head and suck it back like it was a warm pint of beer. And humming birds are not safe, cat will leap 5 feet +- and wackum right out of the air.

My daughter's **** cat likes to do that. He killed and left parts of, mainly internals of some large critter, on the back corner of my cockpit cover, which was of course on the boat, in the 'boat-port', baking in there for about a week before I pulled the boat out and found it. Still can't get some of the gunk out of the cover material. We may experiment with BBQ Kitty.

A number of years ago we inherited a black toy poodle. One night the Bosslady let her out before going to bed and didn't pay any attention to her when she let her in. The poodle was waiting for the Bosslady in bed and dutifully had laid down a dead baby rabbit on her pillow!

LMAO, I never heard of a cat doing that, vampire cat?

I never seen my cat get a bird. He has had his share of mice and the occasional snake. We have a lot of rabbits, never seen him get one.

i forgot to tell the best part of my cats hunting feats
I never seen my cat get a bird.
i've no idea why some do and some don't catch birds. most of mine haven't. but my ziggy that caught birds all the time was outright blind. he got progressively at about age 5 and lived to 19. he caught birds up till he was about 17.... most amazing thing to see a blind cat with dinner hanging out of it's mouth. trying to meow... tail straight up in the air. he was a killer but a happy cat that's for sure..

Re: Cat brought home dinner...again

i watched my cat take down a full sized jack rabbit that was twice her size no joke. that and one time she caught a sugar glider and brought it in the house. me and all my friends were there drunk and promptly took it from her. well the thing got away from us and ran up the stairs, but the door at the top of the stairs was closed, so when we got there it took off and flew across the room. next thing i know its crawling across the room on the ceiling trim. my buddy ended up catching it with his bare hands, bad idea! this thing bit him and it had such a good grip we had to pry its mouth open with a knife. when we were dome we tried to give it back to the cat and she didnt want anything to do with it so we took it back outside and let it go. also sugar gliders arent native to the area where i was living so it musta been someones pet that got away.
