Hi all.

I have bought a 7foot Pfleuga Heavy Action Medalist all graphite rod with a TSS4 Shimano loaded with 15 pound line. With practice how far should I be able to cast a metal slug suitable for Tuna and Mackeral.

Cheers

Re: casting distance

When casting, the reel accounts for 10% of the distance, the rod another 30% and your technique about 60% of the distance. How's your technique?

Re: casting distance

Those spinning reels are better at retrieve ratios than casting distance. But ,considering that it probably holds around 300 yds of 15# line, with practice you should be able to throw a 2 oz. slug around 100 + yds.Even more with a longer rod.If you're after more serious casting distance,an open face bait casting reel is the ticket.Of course ,it will require even more practice if you're not familiar with them.
