hi to all.......first time boat owner,im a proud new owner of a 1982 carver santa cruz 2667, 260 mercruiser..WOT 4200-4800,,,5400lbs.....engine repowered last year. out drive i believe is an ALPHA ONE, correct me if i am wrong about the out drive. i just took the boat outta the water today (salt water) and i am in need of a new prop. 15 3/4 x 16p is what i got from carver yacht. what manufacturer would work best with my boat......so many manufacturers to choose from...i also posted this question in the prop forum before i spotted this carver thread...i love this boat !!!!!!!!

Well a prop is prop, i dont think there is too much difference in the manufactures. the big thing is getting the right size, the prop that is on the boat should have numbers on it to tell you what it is. If the boat is performing properly with that prop just get the same one. your wot should be around 4400-4600, I had my 2667 with a 15x15x15pitch wot was 4400 and i got 32mph max, at 3600rpm i got 26mph

Re: carver santa cruz 2667

thanks for ur reply divecapt......ive yet to run the boat wot, due to the prop having a nice piece missing..so 2300 rpm have been max before i got bad cavitation so i kept the rpm at 2000..till i got the boat taken out the water to replace the prop....well the boat is out the water and now here i am trying to find the correct size prop for my 2667..will the 15 3/4 x 16p perform well? and if 15 3/4 is hard to find, will 16x16p do just fine?

If the outdrive is original to the boat then it's a pre-Alpha, probably a MR.
As far as the prop, it probably makes sense to have it reconditioned rather then buying a new one.

Sure. I've seen some terribly mangled props fixed like new for a lot less then a new one.

Also if you do change props you can vary the diameter by up to 1/2 an inch [as long as it will clear the cavitation plate] from factory spec, pitch being the same. If the factory spec call for aluminum [which is most certain] then stay with that instead of stainless steel. If you hit something, better the prop to take the brunt rather than to blow the outdrive gears.

Re: carver santa cruz 2667

thanks for ur help fellow boaters,,,,i must correct my self. when i called up carver yacht service dept. the specs i got for the factory prop was 15 3/4 x 17p not 16p also the merc part# is 48-79572A4 and i also cross referrenced it with a company called PROPCO and their part # M92-17sp and hub code # P19B70. Hope others with 2667 can bennefit from this info. has any one heard of propco and the quality of their props?

Re: carver santa cruz 2667

I experimented with mine on my 1980 2667, i setteled with a 15 X 15 gives me about 4400 wot at about 32mph, and a 24 mph cruise at 3400 rpm. i have found this gives me the best speed/fuel usage at cruise about 2-3 mpg depending on load! let me know what you get with that prop for WOT rpms and speed and such
