Re: carpet

It depends on your choice, I didn't know there were pre cut carpets also. If you want some good marine carpet at a great price go to Menards or Fleet Farm, they have a good choice and great prices. Of course you have to lay it yourself, but if I can make it, I believe you will also...I am a computer guy, not much carpet layer here... :D

Re: carpet

Hey OM. I just went through an interior restore myself. I believe you're thinking of precut lengths rather than actually precut for your specific boat. You may find it more economical to get the desired length cut for you. I got samples from quite a few marine carpet dealers and found that their quality(even the "premium") left much to be desired. Alot of it ended up being the exact same carpet with a different brand name attached and wide price variations for the same carpets. You can get a much higher quality carpet at considerably cheaper prices from a carpet store. After even more searching I found some at lowes really cheap(remnants) made by the same company that the carpet store had. It has a dense weave that doesn't show backing when it's wrapped around corners and it has a better fade/wear warranty than any of the marine carpets I found. Just stay away form the plastic grass and remember, the best glue is the kind that says FLAMMABLE! The more flammable, the better. Try Touch Down outdoor carpet adhesive. Good luck!

Re: carpet

Carpet store remnants are the way to go. Relatively narrow beams mean that there are many attractive options available at terriffic savings.

Marine carpet stores have to sell many little pieces of carpet, while everyday carpet stores need to sell housefulls of product -- leaving some great remnants for us boat owners.

Also -- most carpet stores use contractors to install their carpet, you can often find one who will do a small job like a boat at a very reasonable rate.
