Carpet Ripping, Can I hammer this in or could it cause leak?

Ok so I got a new pontoon boat and first time putting it back on the trailer I ripped the carpet. I noticed the following piece sticking out doing it. Question is can I use ballpin hammer and just hammer this flat or what should I do? I don't want a leaky toon from doing anything wrong. http://i44.tinypic.com/k3rm1.jpg

I would take a file to it rather than hammer on it.

A file sounds good. Below that weld spot isn't part of the air chamber is it? THanks for any information.

I would take a file to it rather than hammer on it.

The file will probably clog with metal filings. Simply take a wire brush and brush the chips out of the file teeth. Follow the same angle as the file.

That is a keel. It is there to provide some protection for the tubes and give some lateral stability. It is not part of the sealed tube.
