Re: carpet installation

No, Probably work but very expensive to get enough on. Paying a lot for propellant and a can, not much glue per can. Use weldwood contact and a paint brush. Took two gallons to do my 20'. Sides and deck.

Re: carpet installation

I've tried using super 77 on boat carpeting onto fiberglass, didn't work well at all. Peeled off once it got hot.

Re: carpet installation

the place that sells the carpet should be able to make a recommendation...unless you're at a big box. if so, check online. carpet retailers sell carpet cement. been a few years since i did mine so i don't remember the name.

Spray adhesive is lousy. it doesn't have the necessary mass and body. Use outdoor carpet adhesive and a notched trowel. It is avail at home despot or lowes, amongst other places

+1 on the Weldwood contact cement.

Take a look at this carpet adhesive test before you buy.

Indoor/outdoor latex base carpet adhesive weaken significantly when it is exposed to moisture/water.

Re: carpet installation

Don't use carpet adhesive. Use contact cement. During my 36 years as a boat builder with 6 different companies, West coast (Washington) to East coast (North Carolina), Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota 12' to 95' Aluminum and 14' to 120' composite. Everyone of them used contact adhesive for carpet. Except for the bigger ones like 36 and up to 98 and 120 footers, they did the interior carpet like a house and snapped down any exterior carpet.
