I was wondering what the differences between a J-16 and JV-17 carolina skiff is other then a foot difference

The longer one will have a higher HP rating and 1 foot does make a difference

1 foot and a 50 HP verse 40 HP max. power rating.

The J series is a "johnboat" hull design. The JV series has a Boston Whaler-like design at the bow and the chines appear to be different. Not sure if there are any differences between the bottoms.
