By chance can someone tell me what size (L x W/Dia, CP, Watts or Bulb number i.e. Sylvania 585, GE 645...) for the center console for 2006 Sea Chaser RG 180(0)....or similar year??? As my concern and desires, are to enough/highest wattage to get most CP without getting my amp draw or watts to high!!! As to melt housing (over time) or to much of a drain/load on wire AWG and batteries!!!

Just looking for an idea of what others have in their boat of similar years & models. As my original bulbs are unavailable (corroded) as I bought the boat 4-5 years ago and 9-10 months used...so new but, someone did some (a lot!!! LoL) of changes, modifications and electrical custom engineering (screw with ALL electrical and couldn't spell AC or DC and I'd spot them 3 letters to choice from A, D and C!!!).

I just need an idea of what "normal" or original design/specs are suppose to be in these boats??? Carolina Skiff/Sea Chaser THIRD PARTY, On-Line, retail parts stores and other source have proven unreliable...especially Carolina Skiff/Sea Chase dealerships in my area...including the one I bought it from originally!!!!

Sincerely HOPING that Customer Service at Carolina Skiff comes through with the original specs and requirements!!! (Waiting on response...fingers crossed!!)

I still CAN'T BELIEVE that a Quality manufacturer such as CAROLINA SKIFF don't offer such OWNER's MANUAL with purchase or at least a PDF on-line!!! I can't imagine what an occasional, novice or first time boat owner will do when they need information??? As I have known many first time, occasional (Snow Birds, Retirees, Repeat boat owners) who actually decided to buy from different (even change at last minute or leave Carolina Skiff) just because it comes with NO REFERENCE material & the Manufacturer's spec are not READILY available!!!

It makes many wise, experienced and proactive thinking people (NORMALLY the same who have such disposable income to BUY A BOAT!!! LoL) think less of such products that don't have Manuals/Info available! People want convenience in life...not spending hours looking for CORRECT replacement items!

People who spend $30-$100K or MORE, don't want to hear, "that's close enough", "any of those sizes will work" or "Don't know...just replace the ENTIRE light ASSY!!!" (personally my FAV and was said by TWO different Carolina Skiff Dealerships, Parts Department Personnel!!!

REALLY? No one knows what LIGHT BULB is "suppose" to be installed on a $30K boat??? So much for this being the INFORMATION AGE!!! Never said it was the CORRECT Information Age!!! LoL

Re: Carolina Skiff, Sea Chaser...Electrical specs per original design? What are they?

I have the original manual for my boat, and it is very generic (covers a multitude of models), and contains no info on types of light bulbs. Perhaps a more modern boat's manual would contain more specifics, but I doubt it.

I'm not sure what bulbs you're asking about, but they tend to be standard automotive bulbs. If you can post a picture of the socket(s) in question, perhaps we can help. Are the bulbs missing entirely?

For replacements, I would recommend LEDs from http://www.superbrightleds.com. They will cost a lot more than incandescents, but the power draw will be a lot lower.

EXACTLY!!! That's my CURRENT purpose is to change ALL lights to LED's from Super Bright. I just would really like to know the correct amp, watts and size for that particular boat...assuming it's original equipment!! But, just to know the CORRECT specs and requirements for that boat (ie. Bilge size, Aerator, hatch cover hinges, fuel cell...etc) as I would like to know what is correct per manufacturer. As I will probably, replace with higher ratings and quality, but sure like to know what Right looks like!!! LoL

It just seems from a "legality" and "warranty" perspective...it would seem that such info would be offered and easily available???

If not, I have no problem and very able to design, engineer and modify current structure and components to be correct. I just don't wish to check, change and spend cash on replacement of correct items...or simply replace bulb with new bulb!
Electrical & Plumbing (in houses) are two areas you don't wing it, close or good enough and especially, NO Southern Marine Engineering Designs!!! Aka: Regional Electrical Designs - Northern Electrical Changed (C)Katastrophic Engineering!!! (REDNECK Engineering)

Um, we're talking about bulbs, not rocket science here. Figure out the type of socket and go from there. Amps/watts are kind of irrelevant since you won't be replacing with OE incandescent bulbs. Just read the superbrightleds.com info on choosing the right bulb carefully. LEDs are highly directional, unlike incandecscents. You will need to account for the lighting angle.

BAMAROB, have you had any luck on this. I recently bought a used 2009 SC 2400 CC OffShore with no "owners manual", the orig owner claimed that he didn't get one, which I thought was odd, but didn't think it was a big deal, cause I thought I'd get it on-line or direct from Mani, boy was I wrong, 3 calls and 6 e-mails later they are still ignoring me and not returning calls/ e-mails either, then tried 3 dealers all of which were FKG clueless. What a nightmare, this guy bought this boat loaded for 70K +, I have "Aux" switches turn things on/ off that are not listed and my Raw Water Washdown don't work and I want to know where the pickup is, what pump is used, along with many other things. I want to scream. I have to test and check everything to figure it out. I though C Skiff was supposed to be a top notch builder? Let me know if you have had any luck! Thanks.

After rattling some cages at C Skiff, I finally got a return call and e-mail from:

Sabrina Spires
CAROLINA SKIFF LLC
International Sales Mgr/Consumer/Dealer Service Coordinator
(800) 422-7543 ext 113
www.carolinaskiff.com

They don't have any owners manuals, she said they have 38+ models in their line-up and couldn't keep up, but they are discussing internally coming up with a "generic" manual, but it didn't sound to promising. She sent me a "console single engine electric schematic", useless in the grand scheme of things, because I can't get to it anyway. I am pressing her for more info related to actual products used throughout the vessel.

Yes, I agree with you all. BTW...it is just not about LIGHT BULBS!!! It is about the enitire boat and how it is "Suppose" to be from the factory. Thus, I have a starting place and point of reference. It sure be be nice to know where the wires "Should Be" or what ANYTHING "should be". I have had enough problems with "Dealers" (so called experts) returning by boats and vehicles in worse shape then when I got them. I have invested the time and money for EVERY owner's/shop manual for all items on boat but not the BOAT itself!!!

Any yes my friend, That is BEYOND ridiculous and truly unimagineable...that Carolina Skiff has NOT produce an item as simply as an OWNER's Manual??? I would take a shop, service or maintenance manual even!!! Or do their "Technicans" dont have one to go by either??? It sure would explain a lot to me from my past experiences with Carolina Skiff dealers!!! I love the boat but, these dealers ONLY sell the product. There is ZERO and I genuinely mean ZERO follow-up or customer service after the purchase support.

As their response is just to replace entire components and wiring if it doesn't work properly!!! WOW...I wonder what they go to get their certifications???

If there is ANYONE who knows where I can get even parts schematic, diagrams and listings...that would be a start. As I can then crossreference and backwards engineer these components and systems based on the parts break down. At least its a start!!

As for Carolina to make a "Generic manual"...that woudl be even worse...it would be like Chilton's making a book for Carolina Skiff and ALL models in one. It would say: Identify inop light; replace light bulb, test light and use boat!! Troubleshooting: If like doesn't work after replace bulb then, replace entire light assembly, check battery, switch, fuse...if not, call dealership...buy new boat!!! COMPLETELY WORTHLESS!!!

I just can imagine what people do who have no mechanical skills or ability to figure out/troubleshoot or have basic understanding of such maintenance...they are SO SCREWED!!!
