Carburetors

Can someone please tell me what’s the difference in a 1978 Evinrude 115 hp carburetor and a 1981 Johnson 115 hp carburetor? because when I look up the carburetor gasket kit on Marine engine the number is the same ? Also will the carburetors work from the 81 to the 78 Because to me both of these powerhead looks the same Thanks in advance

gaskets....

lots of parts are identical... you are lucky if the number did not change ! they frequently do from year to year

power head can have differences internally

Experts here will tell you if the are realy the same !

By 1981, the Carbs on the V4 might have been Chokeless, using a different enrichment system for cold starts. I know my 82 140 didn't have the Choke.
Carbs from both years had the same Airflow
Sometimes the Linkage contacts were different through the years.
