I have a 1979 Johnson Outboard V4 140 hp SeaHorse. 140TL79R.

I am attempting to remove the carbs so I can clean and rebuild them.

Can anyone explain to me how to remove the linkage between the two carbs.
I have service manual but it kind of glosses over this & Just don't want to force anything.

Do the attaching nuts pull off?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Robert

Ya. the choke linkage arm just needs to be unscrewed. The (rear) butterfly linkage arm can be removed simply by taking a prong from a pair of needlenose plyers and pushing the linkage arm (on the upper carb) out of the plastic retaining clip.

Re: Carburetor Throttle linkage removal

yep that was all it took, the job went fine and was very pleased how easy it really is to re-build this model carburetor.
I'm just reading this reply now & thank you for responding.

After I wrote it I relaxed for awhile and just went to it with the pliers and disconnected pretty easy.

appreciate your help.
