I have an '86 Four Winns 190 Horizon with a 305 5.0 L engine and a stock Quadra Jet 4 barrel carb. The carb adjustment screw is stuck and the carb is old so I want to replace it and want to know what carb I should put in. I was thinking of an edelbrok 600 cfm. Can I go larger or is there a better carb I should look at?

I was also thinking of replacing the distributor points with an electronic ignition. Is this a good idea and if so which would you suggest?

I'm trying to get a little more power and a better running boat without shortening the engine life. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

there's no upgrade really. The Edelbrock is an replacement for what you have already. Whatever screw is stuck will probably come unstuck with some good penetrating oil and patience. A good carb rebuilder can refresh your old carb for the same or less than an Edelbrock and it'll go another 25 years, and you won't have to monkey with linkage and fittings/lines.

I would stick with points. Electronic ignition is an upgrade in reducing maintenance only, there is no performance gain. But, if wanting electronic, I would go with the Delco Voyager setup (that's what is on 2013 5.0 carb'd engines), and a new CDI electronic ignition compatible ESA (part number 123-9898P).
