The screw hole that holds screw/bolt for the float bowl on the bottom of one of my Carbs on a 50HP Mercury has been stripped. The screw/bolt is itself is fine but the hole has no threads. What should i do to fix this? Any ideas??

LokTite makes an epoxy thread repair product that will do the job.

I had a similar problem with my carburetor. Not only was it stripped, but the prior owner cracked it as well trying to force the wrong size fitting into the hole. I finally just searched and found a new carburetor on ebay pretty cheap.

Any idea how this stuff works/how to apply?

It's an epoxy and a release compound. You use the threaded part to form the threads, basically epoxying it into the hole, then withdraw the screw after the epoxy cures. It's about 80% as strong as the original metal.

You can file it, machine it, carve it, and otherwise clean up the job with relative ease.
