Got the old 56 15hp Johnson going today ran pretty good considering. I think I am going to have to blow out the carbon, smokes like an old freight train. A couple of questions, are J8C plugs ok with engine or are they a little too hot.
Second while trying to start the motor a lot of fuel runs out the carburetor, (not while running) carb. float adjustment? Thank's...............mjm

Re: Carburator float & plugs

J6C are the recommeded plugs why not use them?

Carb could be flooding because the needle valve is not seating due to dirt or wear, the float not being correctly adjusted or not floating properly. Old cork float ?

Going to smoke a bit on 20:1 fuel mix but you should compare with a British Seagull running on 10:1
