Carbs on Johnon 50hp adjustable?

Can the fuel mixture be adjusted on the carb on a johnson 50, year 89. I looked but couldnt find anything. I think my engine is running rich, and would like to adjust it.<br /><br />thanks

Hi tonyscj5,<br /><br />I have the same question about my mid 80's 2 cylinder evinrude 50hp. It looks like nothing is adjustable on mine.<br /><br />Maybe someone out there can help us out ?

According to my '89 parts manual the 50hp should have a low speed mixture adjustment. In addition it should have a fixed high speed jet and a fixed low speed jet (air orifice). OMC had various flavors of this carb some only had the jets (i.e. 1986 models) with no adjustment provisions, others had only the high speed jet along with a mixture screw. It was always a curiosity to me why OMC could not standardize this design. Anyway, your mixture screw should be on the left side of the carb just below the aluminum core plug on the top of the carbs.
