carboned spark plugs cursader 454

1989 454 cursader V8 1700 hrs
fresh water cooled
update electronic ignition
runs at 165 all day


recent mis firing, pulled plugs and found the starboard bank plugs to be very carboned up, port bank looks normal.
why would just on side do this?

compression test
port 130 120 100 120

star 120 115 100 130 problem on this side

oil is clean
antifreeze is clean
uses about a quart of oil a season if that

Ayuh,.... I'd guess the port-side of yer Carb is boogered up, so rebuild, 'n adjust the Carb,...

I spoke to a carb shop who has worked on quadrajets for years. he says its not a carb problem.
he thinks since its only on one side of the engine it could be leaking valve stems causing oil to coke up the plugs.

Ayuh,.... He may be Right,....

But 1 Side of yer carb, feeds the opposite side of yer motor, if ya got a dual-plane intake manifold,...

If the seals are that bad you would have a huge smoke cloud on that bank at startup.

The smoke will be somewhat blue is it's oil and somewhat black if it's gas. + you can smell the difference.
