if your motor has a lot of carbon build up and u have never decarbed it in about 7 years will it effect your max rpm's at full throttle?i do 90% of my time on the water trolling.the motor runs great (evinrude 120)but i have lost 200 to 300 rpms.i was going to buy a new sst prop and drop down in pitch to bring back my rpm's.was just wondering.
scott

Steelhead, yes carbon could be culprit. I decarb my motors about every 100 hours of use with SeaFoam. Decarb it and keep it clean. goodluck......BushCat

Steelhead,

Definitly try a decarb before spending money on a new prop, unless of coarse, that prop is beat-up.

I would not go down in pitch on that prop until a decarb is completed.
