Carb throtle question

Nissan NS30A4 2 stroke

pulled and cleaned carb today. Looked in carb body and noticed that throtle plate does not open all the way when i twist tiller handle to full open. Is this normal? It looks like maybe 1/4 of the way open at most. I took it out last week and seemed to work fine except idling a little rough so just doing routine maintenance. I haven't messed with none of the linkage so hoping this is normal. thanks

Looks like throttle armature gets stuck on while roller wheel that's connected to throttle plate. Replace wheel? Everything else seems free.image.jpgimage.jpg

By any chance is the motor in R? If so, throttle is limited in reverse.

Re: Carb throtle question

If engine is off and playing with throttle, you need to engage gear to Forward, that way carb will open all the way when passing throttle restriction, this is normal. For a smooth idle, (pic 1) rotate lower idle stopper screw fully in, re adjust nut. Probably will need to re adjust carb's idle screw to lower rpm a bit untill engine while on at load engages smootthly and engine doesn't die, re adjust rpm if needed.

The throttle grip when at fully idle rest position has too much useless grip end play/slack, tightening the stopper screw fully in will shorten a bit the play. (pic 2)

Re: Carb throtle question

Hey guys thanks for the help. I did have the gear in forward. Got home from work today and lubed all the moving parts for throttle/tiller, removed the collar cleaned and started spinning more freely. The handle twists a lot easier and it took care of the problem. I just got this motor last year and absolutely love it. Thanks again.

Danacman,

It's good to lube peridically all throttle system including complete gear shift system, will wear much less than not doing so at all. You can lube all sliding and rotating parts with automatic transmission oil, yes the red one with a syringe, it's called micro oiling, just the proper amount needed. Will penetrate deeply and lube well.
