I have a 1989 Rinker with a 4.3 liter (262 CID) Mercruiser. The motor starts and idles fine. Around 4000 rpm it has some hesitation. If you push the throttle up it then speeds up fine. I have changed the fuel filter. The carb that is on the motor is a mercarb 2 barrel with the number 33049565 stamped on the side. I am wondering what the correct rebuild kit to purchase is? Is the Sierra 18-7098 the correct kit?

Re: Carb Rebuild

Rink, Unless it is really a problem, I would leave it alone. A litle hesitation at high speed is usually OK. It sounds like it runs good other than that.

Re: Carb Rebuild

I have a 1988 WINNER 1700 mercruiser 3.0 with a mercarb on it and it does the same thing at around 3500 rpm after I rebuilt the carb. If I bump my trim up at the same time I hit this "flat" spot then rpm continues to build and not bog down. Try it and see if it works for you. I know this is only temporary but it might get you though the season before you go completely nuts!
