Hi,
I am going to rebuild my first carb soon, on a little Nissan 2.5 HP motor. I can't seem to find any instruction for this particular carb. Was wondering if anyone on this forum could give me any tips or pointers, thanks in advance!

Re: Carb rebuild

Thanks Elvin,
I have a factory service manual for this motor and it is quite vague about the carb, they show a picture and tell you how to adjust it, but not how to put in a kit. I hope an aftermarket book is better!

Shop IBoats first- shopping them first is a great thank you to them for sponsoring these forums. After that, I will save you some time and highly recommend: http://www.internetoutboards.com/

They will be able to hook you up with a factory service manual that will meet all of your needs specific to your outboard. I have had great luck working with some guy named Elvin... :)

Sorry Yellowstone60, we must have posted at the same time and you posted just before me. Didn't know you already had a factory manual.

Hail to a fellow Montanan...

Re: Carb rebuild

Hey Z-man,
Thanks for the info, Elvin has been a big help to me also with this Nissan stuff. I have always, and still do run OMC power, but I have this little kicker that I got for a song, older (88) but with VERY low hours on it, a great little kicker motor, but man, these are sure alot harder to get info on than the Jonnyrudes!
Will follow your advice....
Greetings from Missoula!

Re: Carb rebuild

I'm not sure if you are aware...As I recall there is a dealer listed in East Missoula but they will complain if you ask them to work on a Tohatsu. There is also a dealer in Victor towards Hamilton that is decent. There are also 2 dealers towards BigFork and the one that is on Swan Lake is outstanding if you ever are in need of someone for parts or repairs. The guy on Swan Lake is a retired resort owner that had small Tohatsu's in his rental units and is quite good at tuning and repairs. Just in case you find yourself in need.... Good Luck from Canyon Ferry!!!!

Re: Carb rebuild

Great to talk with someone that knows the local trade - I moved here from Billings a year ago and am not too familiar with dealers / repair shops, as of yet....this is some really good information to have and I appreciate your taking time to inform me....Canyon Ferry - awesome lake!
