Carb rebuild ?'s on Evinrude vro 140.

I have a 1984/5 140 hp motor model E140TXCRD. What is the recommended carb rebuild kit? Would I require one kit for each carb? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to get this done right the first time. Please feel free to leave any tips or recommendations.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Marvin

Carb kit P/N 0439076.You'll need four.

No ,you're right and I'm wrong.You just need two kits.

The motor has only two throttle bodys but it has four independant carbs, floats, inlet needle/seats. Watch out for warped float bowls. The fuel recirculation system is vey important also, I often locate stuck or open check valves.<br /><br />Skip all this info...I also thought we were working on a newer motor. Sorry

I think i need new floats as well. Do these kits usually include the floats? When the choke is on or off (i can't remember) gas pours out the carbs.<br /><br />Thanks for your quick replies.

nivram,<br /><br />No, the kits do not (usually) include floats. I doubt yours are bad.<br /><br />The needle/seat assemblies will cause the concern you mention.

I went to the local Boat U.S. store and bought a Sierra kit # 18-7046.<br /><br />Bag says this kit replaces: Johnson/Evinrude 390055, 392550, 398526, 435443, 434888. <br /><br />Will this kit work for my application? It does not match the p/n give to me earlier in this thread. But the sales rep said he believed this was the right kit.<br /><br />Thanks

Should be Sierra kit # 18-7220 for a 1985-1990 140 HP. 18-7046 fits a 1977-1983 140 HP Both are W/O floats.
