Carb rebuild question for '85 9.9 hp

I'm rebuilding the carb on a '85 9.9 Johnson. The kit came with a couple packing plugs. I'm not sure which ones I need to pay attention to. The hi-speed orifice is sealed with one. I think I need to remove that one and clean the hi-speed orifice as it looks to be pretty gummed up. How do I remove the existing plug correctly. And do I need to do anything with the other seals? The SELoc 71-89 manual doesn't seem to mention those. But they're in the rebuilt kit.

Are you talking about the round aluminum cap plug? If so, how did you see the orifice is pretty gummed up if you haven't removed it yet? If that is what we're talking about, you drill a tiny hole in the center of it then work a small screw into the hole and work it out. Then after a good cleaning and rebuild, seat the plug and light taps with a flat punch will seal it. Use extra caution while doing this as you only have one for each location.
If the screw doesn't work, once you have a hole in it you can gently pry it out with a pick tool.

Don't be afraid of pulling the aluminum plugs. Carefully drill a 1/8 hole in the center of the old plug. Don't allow the drill to go in too far.
Carefully pry the plug out without damaging the carb. When the cleaning is done, use a thin smear of fuel proof sealant, not silicon, on the edge of the new cap, place the cap in the cavity and use a punch and small hammer, with the punch in the center of the cap, and drive the punch in to cause the cap to expand to seal.

Thanks. Drilling did the trick. the rebuild kit did not come with the orifice plug for the high speed nozzle. So I don't know if I should try to remove the orifice that's down the throat of the nozzle, or just clean as best I can and proceed with the rebuild. Also, there seems to be a removable plug on the side of the nozzle; which does not appear on the detail parts diagram at BRP site. You should be able to see pictures by following this link.

Run a packing wire through the high speed jet to make sure it's good and clean before replacing the core plug. Also some carb cleaner and compressed air.

Okay. So I should try to remove the core plug. I think the other plug on the side of the nozzle is called the "expansion plug". Loos like I should try to remove that too.
