Hi,

I am looking for a complete rebuild kit for a 2 brl TKS merc carb. The number on the carb is 866140001, under that number is 33 6420. I understand that the 6420 is the date the carb was manufactured, April 20, 2006. In searching for a rebuild kit I can not find a match for my number.

The closest i can find in my searches is a kit for this number 3310 866140 A02. Anybody know if thats the correct kit or what kit i might need.

Thanks in advance.
Dave.

Go to this link https://webapps.brunswick.com/literature/literatureSearch.do

Put in your engine serial number and go to the carb section. You will have to order separate items. Merc doesn't sell an actual rebuild kit that includes all the gaskets, packings, springs, checkballs, needle valve, accelerator pumps and all the other goodies, and the TKS is to new for aftermarket kits.

I believe this is the kit you would be looking for. I have a 2007 3.0 TKS and when I went to the marina shop and asked which kit I needed, I gave my s/n and carb stamp and the guy pulled this one for me. I didn't buy it yet. He did say there was one spring that I would need to reuse. I wanna say it was the accelerator pump spring.

Not even close. That kit is for a Mercarb late 80's and earlier. Not the TKS carbs. Is your "Marina Shop" a Merc dealer? or do they just sell aftermarket parts.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kit

they sell aftermarket parts. it's a NAPA auto/marine shop. he said he needed the numbers on the side of the carb which i read off to him as he punched them in the computer. he came back with this exact kit.

there's another poster on here that went crazy trying to find a full kit and he eventually found this same kit worked on various carbs including the TKS carbs. he got lost in all the superceded part number changes. i'll see if i can dig up the thread.

found it.

and here's my thread looking for the rebuild kit.
