Trying to help my in-laws out who have a Mercury 75hp 1F75412CD. There aren't really many professionals nearby and they were told that a fuel leak was because of their carb and that a rebuild would fix it.

Is this a good rebuild kit for that motor? I have never worked on a boat carb, but I have done a decent bit of work on car parts. Is this a bigger undertaking than I think? How much would just outright replacing the carb be? Is that a better move?

If you buy a new carb, it still needs setup to factory specs, they are not drop in and go. In my opinion, get a factory rebuild kit and do the existing carbs. Do them all, not just one !! The rebuild kits will give you the setup specs for the carbs, then you will need a link and sync to get all matched together. Your best bet is to find a factory service manual that will give you all the information you need.

Is there a typical spot people would find factory service manuals? Mercury seems to point in the direction of a $100 purchase - which seems crazy to me.
Found one online. The sync talks about getting a carb tuner and using that - is that part likely needed? If I attempt to keep them all at their original tuned levels. This is on a lake where they can never go over 5 MPH.

And as far as finding a correct factory rebuild kit, do you have any recommendations there?
