Carb rebuild costs?

Hey Tohastsu Guru and others,

I have a 2003 Nissan 25 horse 4- stroke that has run flawlessly for many years. After some serious missing and poor idle rpm's I sent it to an authorized Tohastun/Nissan shop. After tearing down the carburators they discovered lots of garbage and recommended rebuild kits for all three.
Question please? What should the a reasonable shop charge for parts and labor, also what type of tuning synchronization is required and what is a reasonable price for that service.

Many thanks on the great advice,

Graham

Re: Carb rebuild costs?

Carb kits $50.63 msrp per carb.

Average labor probably 1.7 hrs for on-and-off all carbs, plus 0.3 hours per carb for the internals. Also figure 0.3 for diagnostics and 0.5 for test/run/adjustsync time. Labor costs are whatever your shop charges per hour. We get $75 an hour, but some shops are over $100 an hour. You may well want to replace the internal-to-the-motor fuel filter while at it.

If you don't have an external, in-line water-separating fuel filter, I would strongly suggest one.
