The choke thermostat plate on my Rochester 2GC on my OMC 140 (Stringer 400) broke at the screwdriver slot. BRP parts lists the part for $75 but I've seen a part similar to it in automotive stores for the Rochester 2G & 2GC carb for about $5. Will the auto parts store version work & fit just as well? I may have other parts that need fixing on the choke as well (spring might be broken - haven't torn it apart yet), can I use auto versions of those parts too? It's a hot air type, not electric.
The problem I'm trying to solve (besides the broken plastic cover plate) is that the choke won't close when cold. Could just be hooked up wrong or the spring inside isn't engaged properly or something. Like I said I haven't torn it apart yet. The plastic cover is not cracked through, the surface just stripped off when I tried to adjust it, so I'm not in a huge hurry to fix it.
