I have an OEM manual coming this next week and I'm sure the procedure is contained within...but I thought I would find some info here on it. I must not be searching properly or am missing it somehow. Can someone post some info or links to threads on it...hopefully specific to the ocean pro 200 I'm working on? Would have thought these threads would have been in the top secret thread but I don't see any.

Thanks,

It is a complicated procedure....
You can get ahead of the manual arrival by doing this, which is a whole lot of the procedure:

Assemble the throttle bodies to the intake manifold.
Leave the black carb bodies off. Easier that way.
Up on top of the throttle linkage, stbd side, you will see a roller. The adjustment for that roller is a phillips screw.
Loosen the screw, and move it away from the cam it is touching. Get it out of the way.

Your carb linkage is now independent of the timing linkage. Examine VERY VERY carefully the throttle butterflies.
They must be absolutley closed at idle position.
If they are right, correct, don't touch anything.

If not, adjust accordingly watching out for the items below....
Number 5 and 6 are problematic, because they are the two that are adjustable.
They are adjustable with a hex head allen wrench, on the throttle shaft between the lowest carbs and the middle carbs. You must absolutely be sure the butterflies are closed at idle, and that they all operate in sync as you open the linkage at the top of the carbs. You might have to adjust the linkage between the two throttle shafts across the top of the throttle plates....you will see how they are linked if you just operate the linkage manually and study it's operation.
Check the three stbd throttle plates/butterflies, then check the three port ones, then adjust the linkage connecting the two to make them absolutely operate in unison. Tap on the butterflies.....one that is open will sound differently from the others.
All six in exact unison, and all six absolutely closed at idle position.
Did I say absolutely? Absolutely. Close enough is not good enough. They gotta be closed at idle and when opened with the linkage, they have to open in unison.
Very easy to see and accomplish if the black carb bodies are OFF.....

Rotate the roller back to the cam, and note the position where it hits the cam. There should be a mark on the cam, and it should line up with the roller center line. Tighten the screw.

Now. There are two adjustments....idle stop and WOT stop. They are are on the throttle arm. Screws with rubber bumpers on them.
Remove the throttle cable and shift cable.
Manually move the throttle linkage to it's idle position. Hold it there.
Examine the throttle butterflies and make sure they are absolutly closed. They cannot be "propped open" by the idle stop screw position, if you follow my meaning. The butterflies should be absolutely closed when the throttle arm contacts the idle stop screw.
No more, no less. Exactly. Adjust the idle stop screw to the point where the butterflies are closed, and the rubber bumper just contacts the stop boss. Exactly that point.
Then move the throttle linkage to the WOT stop position. The butterflies should be fully open, not "too far open" (past center), when the linkage is at WOT stop position. Adjust the WOT stop screw until the optimum WOT position is obtained while watching the butterfly position. Exactly parallel with the throllte bore, and not "past center" of the perfect parallel position.

The manual will lay these steps out A B C D....etc. This will give you something to gnaw on til it comes.

The relationship between the throttle linkage and the timing linkage is not even addressed here. All I spoke of was the carb sync part of the procedure.

It is complex.

wow. thanks for that. yes this is similar to timing other engines but on others I have been able to use a manometer to get things right on. I take it no manometer needed here. and I did read the ignition timing thread for carbed engines but I believe I will need to follow the linkage adjustment proca for the timing advance linkage. I have seen reference to it here and other places.

edit...double post. high speed data connections in aircraft are still a bit slow for some fingers.
