I believe they have done what some, not most, but some dealers do...doubled the cost....other words, it costs them 44 and you 88....Yamaha doesn't like them doing this...Yamaha publishes a 'retail' price and expects dealers to abide by it....if you call Yamaha, they would probably make the dealer sell to you for around 60 dollars, maybe even cost since you've been screwed around....call yamaha customer service. They don't need to double the price of carb kits.

yes Yamaha does have an MSRP, just like almost anything does.
however dealer cost is set by Yamaha but the retail is set by the dealership and Yamaha has no control of the resale. dont bother calling Yamaha.
what you have to determine is what the kit covers.
some of the older kits include enough gaskets, orings, floats and needles to rebuild all 3 carbs.
usually all you will need is the orings for the main jets,if applicable, and the fuel bowl gaskets.
all parts are avalible individually so a kit is not always nessasary.
if the old floats, needles and metal gaskets are in good shape they can be reused.
the carb design changed sometime back in the 80's-90's so without a picture of your fuel bowls I cant say much more out of memory.

As a parts manager(got AWAY from that end of it), I went through about a week of phone calls from Yamaha on a complaint from customer, and we did lower our prices on Yamaha repair parts, that was Legendary Marine.
