I recently bought a 1993 Ebbtide 182 with a 3.0L Mercruiser engine. I am having the classic "bog" problem that seems to plaque the I/O world. I would like to rebuild the carb but I am not sure of what carb I have. I am 99.9% sure it is a Rochester. I jotted down the numbers I found on the front of the carb. 15396A-4
2Y02

Any idea what that means? I have searched all over the internet trying to decipher that code without any luck.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Re: Carb identification

If a two barrel carb has 2 idle mixture screws, it is made by Rochester. If it only has one mixture screw, it is a MerCarb, imported from Korea.

A dealer can tell for sure by looking at it or by looking it up in the parts book using the engine serial number.

Re: Carb identification

The 2Y02 is the manufactured date code: Nov 2, 2002, I believe.
