my lower carb is spewing fuel ---65 hrs eninrude 1972 --when i throddle up she really goes and then it slowes down--starving for fuel? stuck float? or flooding out-----------please help
Sounds like a stuck open carb float valve. With the airbox off look in the carb throats while you pump the fuel bulb with the engine off. Does fuel spill out of the carb?
Yes, the carb(s) would need to be removed and disassembled and clean with a rebuilt kit installed. Pay particular attention to the float valve. Get a manual. You might visualize the reed plate while you have the carbs off and see if your reeds are OK. Bad reeds could allow some blowback of mixture through the carbs also. You might see this as a pulsing pressure in the carb throats when the engine is running. I'm betting on the carb floats though.
