Carb Gasket Sealer Recomendation

HI, Shortly will be rebuilding the carbs on a '87 40hp Johnson. Have the kits, but see in the manual that they use a sealer. Looking for imput from those with experience as what type of sealer to use. I have rebuilt carbs before and most of them worked with very few parts left over...... Always glad to have any tips, tricks or insight that can be offered.

The only sealer I use is gasket sealing compound on the welsh plugs. After installing the new plug, I coat the top with the compound...just insurance to keep the air out. Other than that, I don't know of any other place on the carb to use a sealer.<br /><br />Some guys will use "Gasiola" on the plugs. Good stuff but the shelf life ain't worth a crap. You may see this stuff on some carbs....kinda red in color.
