Im new to boating and have learned a lot from iboats and appreciate all the help. I have also learned a lot about my 78 200 v6 evin witch I have all the kinks worked out from either neglect or previous owner stupidity. One thing I have recently found out was make sure your fuel lines are in good shape they may look great/ new on the out side but the inside is whats important. I had my carbs off 4 times this season cause something just wasn't right and every time I cleaned them the motor came to life and ran fine. put her on the trailor and the next time I go out sometimes ran fine others something wasn't right (cleaned carbs) ran fine. finally I decided to replace all the fuel lines. they looked great but when I slit them down the sides and opened them up and damn all the plastic looking stuff that was shaling off no wonder a fresh carb rebuild still runs like crap. so if your have carb issues make sure you replace your lines there may be stuff coming off inside them you cant see till you cut them open. helped me hope it helps you

None of these old original fuel lines are made to handle today's ethanol fuels. They all break down eventually. It's unusual that you did not see black bits of fuel hosed migrated down into the carbs and even the jets when you had the carbs apart. It's pretty common. Be sure not to use bulk hose under the cowling where the factory hoses make a tight radius-they are special factory heat-treated (with specific part numbers) hose, made to flow max fuel, despite a tight corner bend. Part numbers: 323546, 319739, 323401, 322761 Bulk hose tends to kink over time, restricting fuel flow, when bent into tight radiuses. Many of these part numbers supercede to 2014 part numbers.
