1989, 25hp, te25elceb. Evinrude has a 0432704 carb listed but mine has a 0432699. I can't find this carb, it looks like the exploded view but it has a hex head bolt in the bottom orfice. I need a carb kit but I want to make sure its the right one. Is there some way to find it? This is a motor I bought used.

I think the carb kit you need is PN 396701. The hex head screw is a plug for the high speed jet.
I am sure someone will come along with some knowledge on this carb and help out.

The original carb kit was a 0398729 but was replaced by OMC0396701. This should fit all 3 carbs that went on that motor.

Looks like they used these 3 carbs:
20EC - 20ELC part# 0433193
25EC - 25ELC part# 0432704 replaced by OMC0439388
30EC - 30ELC part# 0432705 replaced by OMC0439389

I could not find the 0432699 part number.

The Hex plug was used on the 20 and 30 versions so you must have the 25EC-25ELC carb which would be a 0439388.

Where are you getting the 0432699 number from? I can't find that anywhere for anything Evinrude had.

The # is on a tag on the carb. There is a casting # on the carb & it is D1 322299. I have searched evinrude & I didn't have any luck finding the carb ? That plug-screw on the front of the carb is a hex head with a screwdriver slot in it ? Not a nipple.

Also on the metal tag with the 43 2699 # below it is 31 H N. There are spaces like I have .

Re: Carb cross reference

I found another # on the very top of the carb 432700 but its a stamped # not cast. My factory manual ( in the carb servicing section ) shows a carb with the hex bolt like mine but the exploded parts view shows the nipple ?????????

You may want to just order the 0396701 kit and I wager it works. It seems some of the carbs on those motors had solenoids on them. Why, I have no idea. But that kit fits all the carbs for that motor. If it not correct you can send the kit back.

I found some 1996 25hps that have a carb # 432698 & the kit for them is also 396701 so that is the one i'll try. I was mostly worried about the jet needles being the right size. I take it you can't change the jets themselves or at least not the idle jet ? Thanks to all who offered advice it is much appreciated. Rick

Correct. I have a '71 18 HP and it uses the same kit. They are made for multiple motors. They do not come with needles. You get the gaskets, the float valve and seat, and various small stuff. Getting the float is an option. If the idle needle is worn it needs to be ordered separately. No jets come with the kit.

Ok, well if that is the only parts you get in a kit I'll just take it apart & try clean it good first.
