1986 70hp 3cylinder evinrude,manual said to check
the cylinder drain hose check valve.cant find it
on my motor unless its the hose that connects to
the air silencer at the bottom.if it is that
where is the check valve located, because you
can blow air and suck air from the hose.

Re: carb bypass/check valve ???

I believe they are referring to the recirc system. You will see 1/8 polyflow black tubes from the block at each cyl going to the intake manifold just inside of each carb. These lines have brass check valves that need periodic cleaning with alcohol and check that they still only pass fluid towards the carbs. These line convey unburnt fuel/oil mix from the block plenum back to the intake manifold for reburning. Be sure to sketch or take a picture of the routing before disassembly.
Good luck

Thats what i thought by reading the seloc manual
but,my motor has only one hose going to the motor
and it connects to the bottom of the air silencer
and is real close to a 1/4 " hose it connects just
below the bottom carb to the motor.

Not sure if your motor has the recirc system or not. The other hoses to the air silencer are drains from the main bearings. Vacuum helps pull oil/gas thru them to keep em lubed. you can try to look for an exploded view of your powerhead on ishopmarine.com website.
Good luck
PS There may be a small brass oneway valve on that line you are mentioning, but I've never seen it. Selocs cover many models and years so I would verify elsewhere.

Re: carb bypass/check valve ???

hello
on the 3 cyl the drain is non servicable. its built into the intake manifold. I dont recall all of it but thats where it is. its part of the intake/reedplate assy. after this week I am not sure of anything. 11 blown motors since last friday and 2 more possibly coming tomorrow. all want to be back for the 4th :) . but the drain passages in the 3cyl also feed oil to the upper and lower mains.
