I just pulled the carbs off of a 73 evinrude 115, on the face of the carb is cast the number 317470 D3 1 5/16
I realize the bore is the last number. but that number doesnt come up in the parts catalogs it actually shows a 387842.

also on the reed stopper plate is the number 140 stamped, does that mean this has been changed to a 140 setup.

Just trying to find out what the carbs were on originally.

Thanks
Keith

Take a look on boats.net and check the part numbers.

Re: Carb bore and part number

model identification 2.jpgThe 1 5/16" carbs were the large throat carbs for most V4 engines. Found on the 135 and may have been on that year's 115's. Hard to tell what the block is without some research. Does the block have the bubble back exhaust, found on the 135/140 engines? I'd also want to see what the model tag says on the top of the block. If a factory original, it will have the infomation you need. The 135/140 engines had high compression heads unique to those models.

Re: Carb bore and part number

The numbers stamped or cast into parts often do not match up with the part numbers on the list....
