I have a 1994 Evinrude 48 hp. It has not been run in a couple of years and I flushed sediment bowls, lines, and have fresh gas. Engien runs on both cylinders but have to keep pushing choke to keep it running. Should I have jets cleaned and how many turns out should there be on the adjustment set screws on the right side (starboard) of the carbs after seating?
Thanks.
Ben

Ben, the Carbs should have been torn down and cleaned with solvent and compressed air. A rebuild kit would be good also, as the seals and needles are probably worn and brittle after sitting so long. Start at 1 1/2 turns out and go from there when adjusting.

Just to add one more thing to Ricks advice. The pickup tubes in the carb bowls are particularly succeptible of becoming obstructed with particulates and gummy deposits from old stale fuel /oil mix. Many times you can clear them with the proper size torch tip cleaner. As Rick suggests be sure and flush with clean solvent and blow clean with air.You can purchase an indexed set of tip cleaners for a few dollars at any hardware department.
