I am looking at a new '03 Caravelle 207. I have not been able to find much info on these boats, and am looking for any information about the quality of these boats. I am particularly concerned with the glass, how it weathers, stress cracks etc. Any info on these boats would be greatly appreciated. I thought I saw someone here who actually works for them. If possible, please email me. randall_lowe@hotmail.com

The marketing looks great on these boats. No wood, amorcote, through bolting, etc. I guess the lower price tag is what really has me concerned. Its much lower that the Sea Ray's and Chaparrals.

Thanks
Randy

Re: Caravelle 207

Hello again! Caravelle does not sell in big numbers. So there are not many owners active on the message boards. Here are a couple more threads on Caravelle -

What to look for on delivery of new boat

Caravelle Boats????

I would have posted these on that other message board. But their rules do not allow posting URLs.

If anything, I would say the quality of the fiberglass in the Caravelle surpasses that of their competitors at their market level. The premium brands like Chap and Sea Ray may provide a glossier finish to the gelcoat. But this has nothing to do with structural quality. Which is just as good on the Caravelle.

Or just dig up some used Caravelles to examine for yourself.

Kelly Cook

Thanks Kelly,

I was getting no where on the other board. I have found posts on this board that are specific to Caravelle and owners with first hand experience. I just want to get recent information from these folks to support my decision.

Thanks
Randy.

Re: Caravelle 207

Well, I have decided on another boat. I looked at the Caravelle, and it seems to be a decent boat, but I fell in love with the Sea Ray 220. It ends up being around 5K more, but has a lot more features and accessories like SS Prop, 5.0 MPI, custom bow and cockpit covers, trailer includes brakes, really nice materials in the seating, and fit and finish look excellent. Another point to note is the dealer here is outstanding. They have a great reputation here.

Randy.
