The kids got a Phillips dual screen DVD player for Christmas and when I turned it on,,, the remote screen blinked and died :mad:

We sent it back and now have $200 Amazon credit, looking for a replacement... I'm not sure what's good, lots of choices and the reviews don't look too good, most have a rating of 2.5 (out of 5) stars or less. I'm not locked into Amazon for this purchase if we can find a better unit somewhere else.

Any recommendations or hints of what to stay away from?

(BTW, we don't want a roof mounted setup as I think it will block the rear view mirror)

Thanks!

Stay away from DUAL, BOSS, Audiovox, Rockwood, Rampage, and Pyramid for sure. Some of the best brands that are out there are Clarion, Pioneer (Premier is their high end line, and is really good), JVC, Kenwood and Alpine. I sell auto parts, including electronics, if you want me to see what I can do for you, just shoot me a PM and I will give you my email and I'll see what I can find for you that's good quality and reliability.

Stay away from the Audiovox dual screen model from target. I bought one and the first one had flaky screens and second is a little flaky. Sometimes shows the screen upside down..

Nice feature set but pretty low quality picture and durability would be questionable.

I also sell mobile video systems, so what you really need to figure out is what are you wanting to spend? I would also stay far away from any of those brands mentioned above. I use Vizualogic A-1150 and A-1250 systems pretty exclusively. Their headrest kits are a near perfect match for your factory ones. They are prefab headrests that are loaded with the monitors, they are not the slip-over style monitors that hang over your existing headrests. You have many options as far as the electronics go with the systems. If you do decide to use an overhead model, I use Movie Vision systems from Magnadyne. I have used them for about 7 years now, and have very few problems with them. I use the MV7000C kit from them. Both systems come with 2 sets of headphones, built in FM modulator, etc....

If you have any other questions, let me know...
