Hi,
Can someone tell me how much oil is needed to replace the gear oil in a 1986-89 Mercury 3 cyl 75hp 2 stroke.
I got a 500ml tube but i'm thinking it wont be enough to fully replace it since a 115hp enginge takes 666ml (found a manual online for a 115hp but no info for a 75hp)
Any help would be appreciated.

Nick.

If we are on the same sheet, which I think we are, the 75 3 and the 115 4 both share the same gearbox and, other than number of teeth (2.3:1 on yours and 2:1 on it) the same gearbox.

Therefore the oil fill is the same.

If you have 2 vent screws, you open both and when the FRONT (corrected) one starts venting, plug it and continue filling till the CENTER (corrected) one vents.

I have a '02 90 3 and a service manual dating back to '97 with basically the same parts . I don't know when this series was first manufactured so I am assuming yours is like mine. It probably changed in the '89 production run when the tower 6 ceased production and they haven't changed it over all since.
