I have a 92 115hp johnson outboard that starts and runs fine, but when i try to turn off the engine it keeps running. The kill switch also will not stop the engine. When the key is turned off all gages turn off. I have checked the switch with an ohm meter and as far as i can tell the switch is working as it should. any ideas on where to look next or what to check?<br />Thanks guys for any help that you can give.

Re: can't turn motor off

The black/yellow wire from pack to switch unpluged , broke, or pack is bad.

Re: can't turn motor off

Follow the sparkplug wire from sparkplug to ignition coil, from there follow orange wire from ignition coil to powerpack. locate black/yellow wire, disconnect black/yellow wire from harness, start engine, ground black/yellow wire, engine should stop. If engine stops pack is good and wire from pack connector to switch is open or switch is bad. If engine keeps running after you ground the pack black/yellow wire, kill circuit in pack is open. Replace pack
