Cant Id My new boat.... Please help....

Hi everyone, I just got a boat for my 5 year old son and myself to restore and enjoy. It only needs some paint, vinyl replacing and some carpeting etc... It says the name Magna where the boat name is usually but can not find it anywhere. Any ideas who makes this, a rough range what it is worth? etc... Like I said it says Magma and it is 21' with cuddy cabin w/ head and is I/O. The engine I know is a 4 cylinder and just needs a starter. Please help me to ID this so I can start working on it.. Welcome to iboats.

There should be a HIN (hull id number) on the transom, upper starboard side on the outside.
This number should also appear on the registration card, and the title.


THe HIN will start with 3 or 4 letters, then a series of 7-11 digits.

Post the HIN here, and we can help you id her.

There have been several Magna boat manufacturers over the years, from FL and GA, all the way up into Canada.

It was Galaxy Boat MFG, but they are out of business.

A new company is now using the GAL MIC code (manufacturers id code)


Your boat should be a 1989 model.

Hopefully it ain't an OMC, or a Mercruiser 470.....

Regardless of the make,you said it Need's paint. If it's the originall gel coat it can be just compounded and buffed! It's amazing what can be done with gell I've seen em pretty bad and they shine up nice! After polishing up a good couple coats of marine wax.Do not wash with dish soap,use a marine soap,dish soap takes the wax right off. Good luck! Grub

Wet sanding is an option too, with the compound. Again, assuming it's gel coat. Don't worry as much about the manufacturer, as a lot of the boat builders that were here 20+ years ago are gone. Most "parts" are interchangeable and the drivetrain is a different story entirely. Do you have a title, btw? If not, for whatever reason, confirm with your state that you'll be able to acquire one BEFORE you start doing a lot of work to it.
