Can't get forward steering back together

High, I have a basic little 13ft runabout with forward steering. It is like a little worm drive behind the steering wheel that winds the cable. The cables run down either side of the boat.<br />We loosened it off a little last night to adjust it and the coils that were wound around the worm drive unravelled and now I am not sure I have put it back on right. There is a slot down the worm drive that the cable should lay in and then be wound around from each side. Can any one tell me where there is a website with graphics on how to do this or can someone explain to me, step by step the method of putting it on. I beleive there is a particular way it has to be done. I would rather put it on without disconnecting the cables again if possible.
