I am new to the forum so hello. My first question what would be the right prop for a 1995 Glastron SSV 175 SE. It is a 17 foot open bow with a 135 3.0 mercruiser I/O engine. If I wanted a prop to pull a skiers what would be the proper size? How about to maximize speed? Thanks for the input.:)

Re: Cant find the right prop on a Glastron

Welcome,Props for speed and props for pulling don't really go together.
Is there a prop now?The size may be on the barrel or under the prop nut.
For speed a starting point would be a 21" pitch look up props for your motor here at iboats the diameter will follow.Your rpm results will determine if the prop is right on.For sking a 4 blade 19 should work.See if you can get by with the 21 first.
These props are based on typical 3.0 applications and conservetive.Should keep the motor within its rpm range.

If you get one that has bite for popping out of the hole, you always lose some top-end speed. And vice versa.

But 135 hp on a 17' boat, you should be fine if you get any of the middle-range props. From stock to one size up or down should pull a skier just fine. Get a couple sizes bigger or smaller and you will lose much top end for hole shot, or get awesome holeshot losing lots of top end.

Just stick with stock unless it isn't pulling your guy up.

I have a 98 with the 3.0 and a 19p SS Quicksilver. It does about 40-45 top speed depending on weight and pulls my big self up no problem.

The prop I had was a composite and broke off in the water. I have no idea what the stock is supposed to be and the owners manual doesnt say. If someone could give an actual size that would pull up skiers for this boat or what is recommended that would be great. I need an actual number size like ? x ? x ? Thanks alot

I went to the Glastron dealer and said I needed a prop. He said it could have come with one of two or three, he had one in stock, I took it. Works fine, even though it is the higher of the pitches available.

Ayuh,... Prop size is Not like the tire size on your car,... There is no Stock prop...

If you'd read the "Read This First" post at the top of this forum, you'd understand the pertinent #s We need to help you find the proper pitched prop for yer boat...

There are others more expert than me but if I was needing a prop for that boat I wound start with a 21".If you go to the iboats prop section under Mercruiser 3.0
21" props you will see a bunch of 21" props. I would pick the 1511-143-21
Solas amita 21 X 14 3/10.If the motor is healthy this should put the motor within its rpm range.I can't guarantee that but it should. If it revs too high just back off a little. If the 21 doesn't work for sking go to a 19" 4 blade In about the same diameter.
If you get back with your performance numbers lightly loaded with the 21
we can tell if your dialed in. we need the max wot rpm and speed by gps if possible.
