Hi All,

I have a 1981 Mercury I just bought for $50. The thing is spotless except for the fact its in about 100 pieces. I can't seem to find a piston for it. Anyone know any special places I can find one? I needed a good project and this looked like it would be fun, just need to find that piston. Serial # is 5955851. Thanks for any help.

You'll want a good manual, too, I expect. I'll bet you come up short a few more pieces, too. Basket cases are always a joy to put back together. I wish you good luck.

Two places to check are oldmercs.com and mercruiserparts.com I've had good success finding parts for my old Merc outboard at both. Two sources I know of for factory OEM type manuals are the same oldmercs.com and mastertechmarine.com. IBoats carries Seloc manuals, I believe and I've found them to be pretty decent also.

Thanks guys, I'll check those websites. I have the owners manual, and the parts manual. They've already been very helpful.
